Size, downspout placement and color are all fixed once a run is hung. During a replacement they are still open, and changing them costs almost nothing extra. After it, each one means taking the new gutters down again.
Four Things Still Open
- Size. If the old run overflowed, this is the moment to go up a size. Doing it later means taking the new gutters down again.
- Downspout placement. Downspouts often end up where they were convenient rather than where the water should go. They can move now.
- Color. The finish is chosen before anything is formed, so matching your fascia or stucco costs nothing extra at this stage.
- Screens. If you are under palo verde or mesquite, fitting screens to a brand new run is simpler than retrofitting later.
None of It Is Compulsory
- Everything above is optional and priced separately, so you can see what each one adds.
- None of it is worth doing if the run you have is fine. A replacement is not automatically an upgrade.
- If you are happy with the size and the downspouts, say so and we will match what is there.

Will there be a dumpster in my driveway?
No. The old gutters and downspouts go on the truck as they come down, and they leave with the crew along with the offcuts from the new run.
Customers mention the clean-up more than almost anything else, so it is the part we would least like to get wrong.
What happens if there is rot behind the old gutters?
You get told, with the gutter down and the wood in front of you, before anything new goes up. Fasteners do not hold in soft wood, so this genuinely has to be sorted first.
We tell you what we are looking at. Carpentry is usually handled by a specialist rather than by us, so it does not turn up as a surprise on our final bill, and the decision is yours.
How long does a full replacement take?
It depends on the size of the roof, how the old system comes off, and whether anything turns up behind it. One customer described a seamless install on their home taking about two hours, but that was a new run rather than a tear-off.
You will get a realistic timeframe with the estimate, once someone has seen the house.
Should I go up a size while you are at it?
Only if the old run actually overflowed. If it did, replacement is exactly the right moment, because changing size later means taking the new gutters back down.
If it never spilled, there is no reason to pay for capacity you are not using. We will tell you which situation you are in.
Do I have to keep the same color?
No. The finish is chosen before anything is formed, so this is the cheapest moment to change it. There are 28 baked-on colors and the estimator can bring physical samples so you are holding metal against your actual stucco.
